Dare to Care
Bully Proofing our School! Last week the Dare to Care team visited our school and helped us kick off the year wiith strategies and langauge to help our school be safer for all children. The plan started on Tuesday night. Parents came to school and learned about bullying and conflict, heard the HA HA SO strategy, and were encouraged to stand up and be a role model in our communities of a caring invovled citizen. Then on Wednesday all of our students from grades 1 - 6 participated in presentations, workshops, and practiced skills in small groups to move our school toward a caring majority instead of a silent majority. Learning how to stand up and give ourselves a voice or stand in support of someone else is a valuable skill for children to learn. It was excellent to walk around our school and hear our children practiciting being assertive or saying positive self-talk ourload. The week ended with children reviewing what they learned in Character Ed or Regligion class on Friday. With reinforcement and reminders these words and skills should help all our students be safer at our school and the next!
A quick review.
