Attendance Policy
Regular attendance is a necessary ingredient of success in school. The School Act requires that every child who has attained the age of six years at school opening date and who has not attained the age of sixteen years must attend school. Parental support and guidance regarding regular attendance is appreciated. Parents may be contacted by the school to confirm their child’s absence as a means of ensuring timely communication.
When your child is absent due to illness or other unavoidable reasons, the school requests a signed note or a telephone call from parents the day of the absence. The note or call should explain why your child was away. A report of total days absent is on the Report Card. It is the responsibility of the student to catch up on work missed during an absence.
Phone calls will be made home each day when a child is absent from school if we have not received a note or phone call from a parent. Safety of the children is of the utmost importance.
The school is open for students at 8:30 a.m. Should circumstances necessitate an earlier arrival, please make arrangements with the school administrator. Students are allowed entrance in to the front foyer of the school if they arrive earlier than the 8:30 a.m. bell. There is no supervision in this area until 8:30 a.m. so it is important that students arriving early have something quiet to do; i.e. work / reading / or studying. Should a student(s) become a problem in the front area, the privilege of coming early may be denied.
Students are expected to remain on the school grounds at all times during the day. Exceptions must receive prior approval of the Principal.
Parents wishing to remove their child from the school during school hours are expected to sign them out at the office prior to approaching the classroom
