Exemption Policy for Students in Grades 7 and 8

Grade 7 and 8 students may be exempted from writing final exams in up to two core subjects if all of the following conditions have been met:

  1. The student has an average mark in the core subject over the three reporting terms of 80% or above.
  2. The student has no final mark in any course lower than 65% or a 2 on the report card scale. Students will be informed, by letter, if they are exempt from any final exams. If the student has more than two exemptions, they are allowed to choose the two exams from which they will be exempted. Parents must approve the exemption(s) although students qualifying for an exemption may choose to write the exam.
